I really love the energy of twitter and the opportunity to get breaking news well before most people. I just like being in the know.
It may be because I'm NOT trying to sell anything or convince others that I am expert in some subject but I sort of take the chance to watch the interactions between others. Here are some of my random observations from my recent Twitter experiences:
1. Porn has taken over Twitter. The spam is almost out of control and the folks at Twitter are constantly trying to fight it, along with the impostors.
2. Celebrities are just as annoying your regular circle of family and friends.
3. People looking for a job and using Twitter to do so, often forget that ReTweeting @mashable or @techchrunch will not be enough to convince an employer to hire you! Try this: check the Linkedin profile experience of some of those so called "experts" and you'll quickly discover, they don't have any real technical/digital/internet experience on their resume prior to 2004.
4. The most interesting use of Twitter thus far is the porn and hook ups! You have to demonstrate real "swagga" if you can "spit" game in 140 Characters. I would have thought this was difficult but with the 3rd party apps and desktop clients which allow you to shorten URLs wanna be porn starts can easily show you what they are working with....literally.
It doesn't matter how many times I say it but once every six weeks or so some guys overs to take me away from it all....er....no thanks! Your witty use of 140 characters just isn't enough for me (and God only knows if really have your own teeth) to violate my marriage vows.
Don't let my prudish ways put you off about the use of twitter to find a date....the DM conversation with females who have "hooked up" with twitter buddies is stuff porn movies are made of.
Wait....I'm missing something here...perhaps a Twitter based matchmaking service or a UGC-based porn network via Twitter?
Well never mind....I can't explain to my mom what the hell Twitter is now...I can't imagine having to explain either of those business ideas!

So many things I want to say when reading this....I also love the energy of Twitter because when you have a good core following, it's easy to adapt "associations" with great people!
I didn't really deal with the porn until I opened my page up, but I go or quality over quantity of followers, so I take pride in knowing the majority of the people that follow me.
I look forward to more blogs!!!

great writing, and i loved reading it!! twitter is a great use of social networking. They took out all the fluff of myspace and deep details of facebook and there you have it... 140 of whatever you want to express, speak of, cry about, whatever!!! i love it!! Oh and the porn jeez, every day i have a new friend request from someone wanting to follow me and their last tweet is says "click the link for great pics of me" uh yeah BLOCK!!!
My question is now that they have made all of the social networking simple and less.. then what's next? this well evolve but to what?
I am a quality over quantity kind of guy but I do sometimes get a little followers envy. Who doesn't want to have a huge 10,000 person fan base? But. I know if you're selective about who you choose to follow, things like porn and marketing wont find there way into your stream.
As far as the singles bar scene, as a happily married male observer, I think the feeding frenzy happens anywhere men and women congregate. It is just a fact of life and can't be avoided. I would hope the men are polite and respectful.
